Matt, thank you so much for posting this episode. It was such a pleasure to host you at UVU and to discuss these important matters. Your talk about the history of Instructure shook all of us who attended. Canvas was partly developed right here in Utah, and at UVU, so it was critical for us to remember this history and consider the current challenges and dangers. There's so much to say about this topic! I'll just note that Canvas is no longer a pedagogical tool; in its current iteration and ownership structure, faculty and students are trapped in a digital learning environment that mines our labor without consent or privacy and intellectual property protections. That's the big takeaway for me. And we need to know this and act against this capture, especially as OpenAI's products are now embedded in Canvas.
